Round 1
The night was set. The band was electrifying the atmosphere, the cheerleaders were firing up the crowd, and flags waved proudly as fans packed the stands at Alvin ISD’s Freedom Field Stadium. On a cool Texas evening, it was the perfect backdrop for the Iowa Colony Pioneers to kick off their playoff run in spectacular fashion.
A Strong Start Sets the Tone
From the very first play, the Pioneers showed why they’ve become one of the most exciting teams in Texas high school football. They forced a safety right out of the gate, setting the tone for what would be a 47-6 rout of Ellison High School. Led by superstar sophomore quarterback Carson White (#8), Iowa Colony blended confidence, precision, and explosive playmaking that has become their hallmark.
Despite being a relatively new 5A team, the Pioneers have carried their dominance from 4A football, cementing their reputation as a force to be reckoned with. Their roster features standout players who’ve grown together in Alvin Independent School District, forming a tight-knit, well-coached group. Sophomore Noah Smith (#73) anchors the offensive line alongside junior Eden Elizondo (#78), while running back Joseph Mosley (#92) and defensive stalwarts Chris Johnson (#90) and Tyson Wyndham (#50), the senior starting center and guard, (#56) Chukwuemeka Tasie showcase Iowa Colony’s depth on both sides of the ball.

Offensive Fireworks and Defensive Strength
The offense was firing on all cylinders. Carson White dazzled with two jaw-dropping touchdown runs and precision passing to a talented corps of receivers. Junior running back Aaron Tenner (#4) added his usual steady contributions, and senior Chandler Love (#2) made his presence known with his versatile play. The Pioneers surged to a commanding 40-6 lead by halftime, leaving little doubt about the outcome.
On the defensive side, Iowa Colony brought the same level of intensity. Their ability to pressure the quarterback and control the line of scrimmage kept Ellison from building any momentum. While Ellison fought hard and displayed admirable resilience, the Pioneers’ cohesive play was simply too much for them to handle.
Playoff Atmosphere at Its Best
Playoff football isn’t just about what happens on the field; it’s about the experience. At Freedom Field, the atmosphere was electric. The band’s energy, the fans’ cheers, and the excitement of a playoff game on a cool Texas night created an unforgettable environment. Iowa Colony’s performance only added to the magic, giving their supporters plenty to celebrate.
Looking Ahead to Round 2
As Iowa Colony marches into Round 2, the excitement is building. This team has the talent, chemistry, and coaching to go far in the playoffs, and fans can’t wait to see how they perform against tougher competition. The only team to challenge them so far has been the top-five state-ranked Randle High School Lions, but Iowa Colony seems determined to take on all comers.
Playoff football brings out the best in Texas high school athletes, and the Iowa Colony Pioneers are proving they belong among the elite. From the band’s energy to the crowd’s cheers, this game at Freedom Field will be remembered as a key step in what could be a historic playoff run for the Pioneers.
