October 3, 2025 — Alvin ISD Freedom Field
The Manvel Mavericks made a statement Friday night under the lights at Alvin ISD’s Freedom Field, overpowering the South Houston Trojans in a commanding 58-7 victory.
From the opening kickoff, the Mavericks set the tone—fast, physical, and relentless. By the end of the first quarter, the scoreboard already read 21-0, and there was still plenty of time left on the clock. Manvel’s offensive line imposed its will early, opening lanes for the ground game and giving the quarterback all the time he needed to make plays downfield.

Defensively, the Mavericks were just as dominant. Their defensive front anchored by Junior Defensive Tackle (#99) Amir Bowers controlled the trenches, staying in South Houston’s face and keeping the Trojans off balance all night. Pressure up front led to rushed throws, broken plays, and very little offensive rhythm for South Houston.
With the game well in hand, Manvel began rotating in reserves early, giving younger players valuable reps under the homecoming lights. Even with the backups in, the Mavericks maintained their focus and energy, showcasing the team’s depth and discipline.
Building Momentum to Round Out The Post Season Play
The win not only gave Manvel fans plenty to celebrate for Homecoming 2025, but it also evened the Mavericks’ season record at 3-3, marking a strong turning point as they head into the second half of the year.
Next up, the Mavericks will take on Sam Rayburn on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., looking to carry their momentum forward and continue climbing in district play.
Big Boy Ball Around The Corner!
This season marks Manvel’s first year as a 6A program, and the Mavericks are adapting quickly to the higher level of competition. With a roster loaded with underclassmen—sophomores and juniors—the team is building depth and experience that will allow them to compete peer-for-peer with any program in the state for years to come.
The future is bright for this program as they continue to make their mark in district play.
