In a tense, back-and-forth playoff showdown on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at NRG Stadium in Houston, TX, the Angleton Wildcats emerged victorious over the La Porte Slicers with a final score of 24-21. This hard-fought game showcased grit, highlight-worthy plays, and plenty of momentum swings.

First Quarter: A Slow Start Turns Electric
The Wildcats struck first with a 20-yard field goal to go up 3-0 late in the first quarter. However, La Porte responded with a massive 45-yard pass, followed by a 3-yard touchdown run, closing the quarter at 7-3 in favor of the Slicers.
Second Quarter: Angleton’s Big Plays and Penalties
A 30-yard touchdown pass from Angleton’s quarterback, aided by a stellar lead block from #22, reclaimed the lead at 10-7. However, penalties plagued the Wildcats, giving La Porte opportunities to strike. The Slicers capitalized with a 10-yard touchdown run, putting them ahead 14-10 before halftime.
Third Quarter: Defensive Stands and Key Kicks
Angleton opened the third quarter determined, driving the ball with power. However, La Porte’s defense forced a field goal attempt, narrowing the score to 14-13. La Porte answered quickly with a 43-yard touchdown run, extending their lead to 21-13.
Angleton’s defense shined, stopping La Porte on 4th and 1 at the 2-yard line. Despite another big pass play being nullified by penalties, the Wildcats entered the fourth quarter trailing 21-13.
Fourth Quarter: Wildcats Rally to Victory
Angleton tied the game at 21-21 with a clutch touchdown and successful two-point conversion early in the fourth. With just 6:26 remaining, Angleton kicker #91 drilled a 38-yard field goal, putting the Wildcats ahead 24-21.
The game-sealing moment came when Angleton’s #9 intercepted a La Porte pass, setting up victory formation with only seconds left.
